What is Get Nigerian Businesses Online?

Get Nigerian Businesses Online is a Google-led initiative to help drive the economic success of small and medium businesses in Nigeria by enabling them to tap into the online marketplace.

Why is Google Doing this?

Small and medium businesses are vital to Nigeria’s economy; there are approximately 43 million Nigerians online and that number is expected to continue grow.  In the past 10 years the number of Nigerians online has grown at an explosive 82% year-over-year.  For businesses to continue to play a vital role in the Nigerian economy, they need to go where their customers are going and that is – online!

Domain Registration

How do I register my domain?

  1. Login to your website administration console, www.businessname.gnbo.com.ng/admin, with your gmail username and password
  2. When site builder completes loading (may take up to 5mins), locate and click the settings tab
  3. Under publishing section, you should see “You do not have a custom domain name for your site. Purchase one
    • Click the ‘Purchase one’ link
    • Choose preferred Domain registrar –Upperlink OR Whogohost and click the OK button to continue domain registration
  4. Go to next step depending on which domain registrar you’ve selected

 

If you’ve selected Upperlink as your domain registrar:  

  • You will be directed to the Upperlink domain registration page
  • Click the ‘Login with your Google account’ button
  • Grant access to Upperlink, when requested
  • Enter a preferred domain name (NOTE: domain name can not be changed afterwards)
  • Choose one domain extension(.com, .com.ng, .org, .org.ng)
  • Click Check availability button to check whether domain is available, if not, refine website/domain name. Check tips on choosing a domain name
  • Click the ‘continue’ button and fill the domain details
  • Click continue to choose payment method

 

If you’ve selected Whogohost as your domain registrar: 

  • You should be redirected to Whogohost GNBO domain registration page. 
  • Enter a preferred domain name (NOTE: domain name can not be changed afterwards) 
  • Choose one domain extension(.com, .com.ng, .org, .org.ng) 
  • Click ‘Check availability’ button to check whether domain is available, if not refine website/domain name. Check tips on choosing domain name 
  • Click the blue ‘Click here’ words, within the availability statement
  • Fill the domain registration details and enter email address/password field correctly.
  • If details are correct, you should be redirected to a payment instruction page, else you need to re-check the fields and enter correctly
  • Click the second blue ‘Click here’
  • Login with the email address and password, used for domain registration in earlier steps

How do I pay for my customised domain?

Payment process will depend on the domain registrar you've selected.

 

Upperlink payment:

 

Online payment: 

1)    Choose Interswitch, and click Proceed 

2)    Choose Card type, Enter Card number, expiry date, PIN, CVV (3-digit code at the back of the card) 

3)    Click the pay button to submit 

4)    If you get an error message, review the card details and try again. Or read online payment FAQ. 

 

Offline payment - Upperlink Branchcollect PIN or bank deposit 

1)    Choose Upperlink, and click Proceed 

2)    Purchase PIN from any ECOBANK or make payment to bank and send scanned copy of deposit slip to gnbo@upperlink.com.ng, including email address 

3)    Check your mail for PIN, if you made bank deposit or copy PIN from Scratch card. 

4)    Enter PIN correctly in the field and click Ok 

 

You will be re-directed to the payment confirmation page.

You have now completed the payment process. 

 

Whogohost payment:

 

Online payment - CashEnvoy or Interswitch/Mastercard 

1)    On the invoice page, choose CashEnvoy/Interswitch/Mastercard from the drop down list 

2)    On the secured payment page, choose Interswitch/Mastercard 

3)    Click card type, and enter card number, expiry date, PIN and CVV (3-digit code at the back of the card) 

4)    Click the ‘Pay’ button to submit 

 

Offline payment - Bank deposit/CashEnvoy 

1)    Make payment to bank and send scanned copy of deposit slip to support@whogohost.com, including email address 

2)    On the invoice page, choose CashEnvoy/Interswitch/Mastercard from the drop down list 

3)    On the secured payment page, choose CashEnvoy 

4)    Login to cashenvoy account, with email and password of account setup 

5)    Select domain and click Pay 

 

You will be re-directed to the payment confirmation page.

You have now completed the payment process. 

 

When will my domain registration be complete?

 

Upperlink

Once you have completed the payment process, simply click the ‘Continue’ button

Your website is now registered, but not active, this should take 1-2hrs; Wait while your domain propagates

Tip: To ensure you can return to this domain status page, copy and keep the page link (http://upperlink.com.ng/gnbo)

Return to the domain status page, and check the action column for the statement “Verify and Map to Google Sitebuilder

Click the ‘Verify and Map to Google Sitebuilder’ link

If domain propagation is complete, you should get a congratulations message and a link to your website; If you do not see this message, click the ‘Click here’ to try again till you get the congratulations message.

 

Whogohost

Once you have completed the payment process, your website is registered, but not active; it should take 1-2hrs, kindly wait patiently while your domain propagates

Check email inbox for website confirmation (NOTE: At this point, your website is fully functional and you may visit the site, from a link in the email)

 

How do I renew my domain?


When your domain expires, you will recieve expiry notifications like the one below

You can renew these domain via your Registrant Control Panel http://upperlink.com.ng/client/

You can renew the domain in two ways, through Interswitch or Bank Deposit
Interswitch
By clicking on the link above 
Log in with your username and password 
Click on "Billing" and "View Invoices"
Tick the box next to the domain you wish to renew
Click on "Pay Via Interswitch" and Check out
Enter your four digit pin and card number
Pay for the domain, tick ‘I agree’ and check out
After renewal, the status of the domain will change from pending to delegated
Bank Deposit
By paying to our Bank Account

After payment send the payment details including the depositor name and bank branch to domains@upperlink.com.ngstating the domain you wish to renew.
After renewal of the domain, you may still get renewal notifications on the domain, ignore them.
